위상수학적 데이터분석을 이용한 국악연구 Ⅰ －도드리와 수제천의 시김새를 중심으로－
최근 개발된 위상수학적 데이터 분석 방법은 데이터의 기하학적 구조, 특히 순환하고 반복하는 형태를 찾아내고 분류하는 데 유용한 방법론으로 알려져 있다. 선행 연구에서 위상수학적 데이터 분석 방법론을 이용하여 국악 데이터를 네트워크화하고 그 안에 담긴 위상적 구조를 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 밑도드리 와 수제천을 이용하여 시김새가 음악 구조에 미치는 영향을 위상수학적 데이터 분석 방법론을 이용하여 연구하였다. 선행 연구에서는 음의 높낮이와 음의 길이로 구성된 2차원 벡터로 네트워크의 노드를 정의한 반면 본 연구에서는 음의 높낮이와 음의 길이 그리고 시김새의 여부를 고려한 3차원 벡터로 네트워크의 노드를 정의하여 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해서, 시김새를 고려한 음악과 시김새를 고려하지 않은 음악의 다양한 특성을 비교하였고 위상적 분석 방법을 통해 얻어진 중첩행렬을 이용하여 두 음악이 구조적으로 다를 수 있다는 것을 보였다. 본 발표에서는 연구에 쓰인 방법론을 소개하고 연구의 결과를 나열하며 연구 결과에 대한 해석을 기술한다.
Topological data analysis of Korean music I －Structural effects of Sikimse for Dodeuri and Sujechon－
Topological data analysis(TDA) has recently been developed in the areas of data science. As TDA uses techniques from homology, it is known that TDA is efficient for analyzing the circular structures and patterns embedded in data. In our previous study(Tran et al., 2021) TDA was applied to study Korean music by constructing the music network of Korean music and the topological structure of Korean music has been investigated through the concept of overlap matrix. In this study, we used TDA to analyze the role of Sikimse for Dodeuri and Sujechon music. In our previous study, we defined the node as a two dimensional vector composed of the pitch and duration of the given note, but for the current study, we expanded it to a three dimensional vector as considering additionally the Sikimse symbol, whether it is applied or not to the given note. Through the analysis using TDA and overlap matrix, we showed that those music pieces with and without Sikimse, respectively, yield structural differences. In this presentation, we explain the methodology used for the study and provide various results.
