기판시조의 음악적 특징
기판시조는 리듬적 요소에서 선비판시조에 비해 한배가 더 신축적이고, 다소 빠르며, 연주시간이 더 짧고, 빠르기 변화가 더 심하며, 는박이나 준박을 자주 사용하고, 여음의 길이가 가변적이며, 추임새를 넣기도 한다. 선율적 요소에서 청이 더 다양하고, 시김새와 잔가락이 더 많으며, 새 구성음을 쓴 일시적 전조나, 종장 끝구를 생략 없이 모두 부르는 경우가 있다. 배자 양상에서는 선비판과 기판 모두 제5․7박의 배자가 예외적인 경우로 쓰였으며, 기판 평시조에서는 1박에 5자를 배치한 경우가 있다. 현재 불리고 있는 시조가 대부분 선비판과 석암제로 그 다양성이 축소된 상황에서, 기판시조는 시조 갈래의 다양성을 회복하고 영역 확장을 꾀할 수 있다는 가능성을 시사한다.
Musical Characteristics of Gipan Sijo
Gipan Sijo (the Sijo a Gisaeng sangs) is characterized, compare to Seonbipan Sijo (the Sijo a scholar sangs), by one beat unit being more flexible, somewhat faster, the tune being shorter, the tempo changing more abruptly, the more often use of lengthened beat or shortened beat, the reverberating tune length being variable, and the addition of callings of encouragement. The melodic features of Gipan Sijo, the tonic be diverse compared to Seonbipan Sijo, and the more use of smaller melodic lines and vibration. Using modulation is also a characteristic of Gipan Sijo, and all tune is sometimes sung without omitting the last part of a song. The lyrics come on the 5th and 7th beat rarely in both Gipan and Seonbipan Sijo. In one Gipan Sijo, 5 lyrics come on only one beat. Today, diversity of Sijo has been limited in Seonbipan and Seogamje Sijo. Gipan Sijo suggest the possibility that the recovery of diversity of Sijo category and the expansion thereof can be attempted.
